Literary Genre: the ability to identify, define, and describe the attributes and significance of the primary genres and their subgenres.

Literary Genre: Level 1: Identifies and describes the characteristics of subject genre.

Literary Genre: Level 2: Defines (or describes) and examines historical developments of subject genres and subgenres.  Definitions/descriptions are imprecise or general in expression. Analysis lacks depth, support, and/or context. Definitions/descriptions are accurate and relevant.  Analysis is supported with evidence/illustration and/or is expressed with sufficient context. Definition/descriptions are precise and thorough.  Analysis is rigorous, thoroughly developed, and purposeful.
