On March 13,2010, nineteen credit and non-credit Dental Assisting students and their instructors, Erin Annecharico and Gary Jacobs, volunteered their time for the Mission of Mercy Free Walk-in Dental Clinic for the Uninsured at Aetna’s Middletown campus. Erin reported that 2,049 people were served over a two-day period. Tunxis Dental Assisting students spent Saturday collecting, sterilizing, packaging and delivering instruments to the dentists and hygienists providing this incredible free service. Erin indicated that “The program ran like a well oiled machine, with efficiency, accuracy and excellence. “ Hats off to our students who contributed to the clinic’s success!
The Break Dance club at Tunxis Community College is all about abilities. We seek to be aesthetically engaged, artistically communicating, creatively thinking of innovative moves, informational and technologically literate, representative of many world cultures and perspectives while demonstrating positive values, ethics and B-boying citizenship. Come join our interpersonal club and learn the abilities through team skills by break dancing.
Spring Fling is our academic year-end celebration where students let off a little steam, socialize, and enjoy a day of fun and activities before they enter final exam week. The event is entirely funded with student activity fee money and is very well attended. We served over 1,200 hamburgers, 1,100 hot dogs, 600 plates of fried dough, and a variety of other food items throughout the day.
